Accident Left Reno Police Officer Injured

One of the cars that collided with the woman’s vehicle was sent spinning out of control upon impact, striking a Reno police officer. According to NHP, the officer was seriously injured along with one other driver.

Driver Suspected of Intoxication

The auto accident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. Officers reported that the woman who caused the accident is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, however, that has yet to be confirmed.

Nevada Highway Patrol shut down a section of the 80 westbound for more than five hours after the accident. It was closed from 1:08 a.m. to 6:19 a.m.

None of the names of the people involved have been released.
