Nevada Senator Hospitalized After Car Accident

Nevada Senator John Ensign and his aide were briefly hospitalized on Monday after a head-on auto accident.  According to the Senator’s spokesperson, Ensign required medical treatment for minor injuries following this car accident.  Police say he was treated at Sunrise Hospital, yet the hospital says there are no public records of the Nevada senator’s treatment there.

Forty-seven-year-old republican senator Ensign was the passenger in a Mercury Mountaineer, which was struck by a Ford Explorer virtually head-on at about 7:30 in the morning.  The Nevada car accident took place just off the Las Vegas strip, according to the police.

The Explorer’s driver, who was not identified, told police that he had fallen asleep at the wheel just before the car accident.  It is unclear whether this person suffered any injuries in the Nevada car accident.

After the initial crash, another car collided into the two vehicles, but this driver did not suffer any injuries.
