Man Killed in Las Vegas Auto Accident
A 19-year-old man was killed Friday in an auto accident in North Las Vegas. According to police reports, he was driving at an extremely high speed, possibly reaching 100 miles per hour when he spun out of control and slammed into a black Chevy El Camino.
Police say the impact was so severe that the Acura that smashed into the El Camino split in two pieces, killing the driver on impact.
The driver of the El Camino, a 28-year-old man, was taken to the hospital after suffering injuries to his head. Neither one of the names of the individuals involved have been released.
Investigation Continues
The Las Vegas auto accident remains under investigation as police are trying to determine if speeding was the only factor in the crash. Officials said they are investigating as to whether or not drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
A North Las Vegas police officer said this is the seventeenth fatal auto accident in his jurisdiction this year.
